When One Chapter Ends

Reflections on growth, transition, and what comes next

Over the past two months, I’ve had time to reflect after being laid off — something many people experience at some point in their careers, but it still makes you pause. In that time, I’ve leaned into reading, spending more time in the gym, doing some real soul searching, and even making a major life move across the country.

I’m incredibly grateful for the journey that led me here. I earned my bachelor’s in Global Leadership, recently completed my MBA with honors, built a foundation in finance, grew through leadership roles, and transitioned into talent acquisition. Along the way, I was fortunate to have mentors who invested in me, colleagues who became close friends, and experiences that allowed me to travel and grow in ways I didn’t expect.

Recently, I listened to a podcast from one of my former basketball coaches that stuck with me. He said something along the lines of:

Don’t let what you do define who you are.” - Coach Wood

That really resonated — I’m not a recruiter, a manager, or a job title. Those are things I’ve done, not who I am.

So while this chapter is closing, I’m not viewing it as a loss — just a transition.

It may sound cliché, but it’s true: when one door closes, another one opens. I’m excited to see what that next door looks like.

I’m grateful for the people who have been part of the journey so far — and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.
